In short, as you can guess from the name, tiny houses are homes smaller than standard traditional houses. In general, the square footage of these homes doesn’t exceed 400 square meters. Surprised by its size? Sounds challenging? No worries because these tiny houses, although small in size, offer great functionality and practicality.

You can find everything you need in a tiny home – a kitchen, a sitting area, a bedroom, and a bathroom. The only thing you should compromise on is having lots of belongings. In other words, you may have to get rid of unnecessary items and only keep the ones you use daily.

Why are Tiny Houses so Popular?

Now that you know the basics about tiny houses, let’s move on to explore the reasons why they have become so popular. Here’s a brief list of the benefits tiny house living offers:

  1. Eco-Friendly Housing Option

Tiny houses are one of the most eco-friendly housing options. The reason for this is that many tiny homes are built from reusable and environmentally friendly materials, like recycled or reclaimed wood. What’s more, they normally use renewable energy sources, such as sunlight and wind.

  1. Sense of Financial Independence

Another reason why tiny house living has become so attractive is because it provides a sense of financial independence. Namely, as they take up less space, owners tend to consume less and save more. So, they get the chance to be more financially independent and invest in experiences and hobbies they enjoy.

  1. Portability and Flexibility

One of the greatest things about tiny houses is that they can be portable and moved wherever their owner wants, by the lake, in the forest, on the beach, etc. This benefit makes them amazing for those who want to travel and explore as they can take their home with them without the need for packing.

  1. Strong Family Relationships

In general, people living in standard big houses spend less time together as a family as everyone has their own room where they spend most of their time. On the contrary, tiny houses encourage people to be together and strengthen their relationships. This is especially important for families with smaller kids.

  1. Cost-Effective Housing Option

Last but not least, not only do tiny houses offer financial independence in terms of lifestyle but they are also cost-effective to build and maintain too. Logically, smaller spaces are cheaper to build as they require less material, and cheaper to maintain as they require less energy to heat or cool.

The bottom line, tiny house living provides homeowners with plenty of benefits making it a lifestyle choice worth considering. Hence, if you want to adopt a minimalist lifestyle, start your tiny house hunt today!

I’m interested in buying this model. I already live off grid. I will just need either a composting toilet, or one that incinerates waste. Also solar panels and a controller and inverter. I also need a gutter that loads rain water into a container.
