If you’re thinking about building or commissioning your own tiny house, there’s plenty of inspiration out there. One amazing example is the home of Craig and Amy, a couple from Vancouver Island. Craig and Amy designed the tiny house themselves.
Eye-catching Exterior
What really makes their home pop is its deep blue siding. They added a cute porch that’s accessible by a small set of stairs and placed flower boxes along the side, giving the place a charming touch.
Learning as They Go
The couple not only designed the home but built it too, even though they didn’t have much DIY experience when they started. It took them about nine months to complete.
A Solid Foundation
To make sure the structure was solid, they got some help from Oak and Arrow Construction for the frame. After that was finished, Craig and Amy handled the exterior and interior themselves.
Functional Interior
Inside, there’s a pair of counters and cabinets, and one of them doubles as a bar for meals. The bathroom is at the back, with a cozy sleeping loft above it that’s accessible by stairs on the left.
Modern Yet Cozy
Although the home uses some rustic touches, the overall vibe is modern and fresh. The dominant colors—natural wood tones, blues, and whites—make everything pop but still feel clean and bright.
Unique Features
One cool feature is a net over the kitchen area, decorated with lights and perfect for a climbing vine. There are also exposed beams that add character and contrast nicely with the white walls, leading back to the seating area.
Airy Kitchen
The windows open up to let in fresh air, which is great in the kitchen—I know from experience how hot tiny house kitchens can get in summer!
Smart Storage
Under the couch, there’s storage space, and with the overhead light, it seems like an ideal spot to curl up with a good book.
A Splash of Green
It’s surprising how much life and color just a single vine can bring inside!
Clever Stairs
The stairs leading to the loft cleverly include extra storage underneath.
Comfortable Loft
Up in the bedroom loft, the windows open completely to create a cross-breeze, perfect for keeping things cool and comfy when it gets hot.
Stunning Bathroom
Honestly, one of my favourite spaces in this tiny house is the bathroom. I love the huge, stylish mirror, the trendy vessel sink, and the rustic live-edge countertop with matching floating shelves. Plus, there’s plenty of storage underneath.
Spacious Closet
There also seems to be an impressively large closet on your right as you walk toward the bathroom.
Luxurious Shower
The shower is great, featuring both a rain shower head and a handheld option.
Worth Every Penny
They spent about $57,000 on building this tiny home, and from what I can see, it was definitely worth every cent!
