Cabinscape has added a few new spots in Ontario, and one you’ve got to check out is the Mason Cabin in Mountain Grove. You can snag it for just $121 a night on weekdays. Named after the famous Canadian naturalist Bill Mason, it’s nestled in 576 acres of Ontario’s forests and marshes, offering killer views right from its massive windows. It’s like enjoying all the indoor comforts without missing out on any wild beauty.
The cabin sits right next to 10 kilometers of hiking trails, perfect for exploring the great outdoors.
Inside the Tiny Home
Inside, the focus is totally on the view outside. The furnishings are simple—nothing too fancy but everything you need to be comfy. There’s a live edge bar by a huge window, perfect for eating, working, or just chilling. The bedroom has a massive window too, stretching down to the mattress, making it feel like you’re camping but with a roof over your head.
The kitchen might be small, but it’s got everything you need: a decent-sized sink, a high faucet to make dishwashing easy, plus a 4-burner cooktop and a fridge and freezer. It comes stocked with some basic dishes and cutlery. Need more supplies? It’s a quick 26-minute drive to Sharbot Lake, or if you’re up for a longer trip, you can hit up the historic village of Perth in under an hour.
And that view from the bar window? It’s absolutely stunning.
Besides hiking, you can go boating on the lake or enjoy a picnic on the patio.
The Mason Cabin isn’t just cozy—it’s practical too, with an indoor composting toilet and a shower. It’s well-insulated and has a propane heater to keep you warm in the chilly Canadian winters. If the weather turns sour, there are puzzles, board games, and cards to keep you entertained.
No wi-fi? More like no problem. It’s the perfect chance to truly unplug and relax.
At $121 a night, Mason Cabin is a steal, packing tons of great features into just 160 square feet. It’s ideal for up to two adults, and there’s even a little extra bed for a toddler or baby. Plus, you can bring your dog along too!

New Frontier’s Gorgeous Custom Tiny House Named Cornelia
New Frontier is killing it with their tiny house designs, and the Cornelia is no exception. Named after the author Cornelia Funke who commissioned it, this tiny house doubles as her library and writing studio, and a guest house when she has visitors.
Ready to take a peek inside?
It’s tough to say whether it’d be easier or harder to write here. The views through the glass walls are inspiring, but could all that beauty be too distracting? Honestly, that’s a “problem” I wouldn’t mind having!
The layout is pretty standard for a tiny house, but with a couple of neat tweaks. First, check out the high, narrow shelf above the window—it’s closer to the wall than you usually see, keeping the space open. Then there’s the kitchenette, more of a nook really, which helps the main living area feel more spacious.
The color choices here are so fun! There’s a bright yellow in the back that makes the kitchenette pop and contrasts sharply with the deep blue above, making the ceiling feel like the sky.
The whole place feels like a peaceful sanctuary. The layout is calm and organized, great for focusing, and the colors seem to spark creativity.
There’s ample wall space for artwork, and the kitchen is deeper than it appears from across the room.
I’m not sure if the beams overhead were painted to match the yellow wall, but they look great together. Even the sink faucet adds an artistic touch with its elegant design.
The bathroom is defined by a mint green that’s both playful and soothing.
As evening falls, the house changes vibe. The mood lighting transforms the colors, and the ceiling shifts from the bright blue of day to a twilight sky, enhanced by small recessed lights that resemble stars.
After a busy day, that bed looks incredibly inviting. Honestly, even if this were just my guest house, I’d want to sleep here often. Cornelia’s main house must be pretty spectacular if she doesn’t choose to sleep here regularly.
What a view to wake up to!
Even the awning is a work of art, especially how the lighting draws your eye up to the porch and the door. The whole design of the house is inviting and cohesive.
Here’s what the back of Cornelia’s house looks like.
New Frontier describes Cornelia’s tiny house as “Simple, Enduring, Rustic, Elegance.” And while that’s all true, those words barely scratch the surface of the home’s beauty, creativity, and ingenious design.
I really like these houses.
